The following sections are important information regarding the role of our clinic and methods of contacting the doctor. Please read them carefully. At the end of each section are links which allow you to download and print the document for future reference.
Our Role
In order to make your experience as a patient as positive as possible, we offer the following suggestions to help you understand your role in your health care.
We will only treat your endocrine and metabolic related disorders. This means that we will advise you and if requested your primary care physician about certain problems or questions in your case. We will only focus on those questions and issues that are related to diabetes or other endocrine or metabolic disorders. For a list of endocrine related disorders check here.
In most cases our role does not extend beyond these specific questions. Thus, we may not focus on other issues that may be important to you, or we may tell you that the symptoms for which you have consulted us are not explained by a problem in the field of endocrinology. We may refer those problems back to your primary doctor. This does NOT mean that we are not concerned about you or that we are rushing you. It only means that the problems that refer back to your primary care physician do not fall into our area of medicine.
Our role as your endocrine consultant also means that we do not comment on treatments prescribed by other doctors, especially for problems that do not fall within our area of medical practice. We suggest that patients ask any questions to the doctor who may have prescribed the treatment for a problem not within our area of medicine.
We appreciate your understanding about our role in your care. Please ask us if you have any questions about this.

Contacting the Office
Our Patient Brochure describes our policies regarding after hours contacts. We ask all patients to read the brochure that is available here.
Our doctor can rarely answer calls that are not medical emergencies during office hours. Therefore, if you call us for a non-emergency call you will be directed to either the prescription refill number (extension 2), or the office manager (extension 10). Or you may send an email to DrTRoosevelt@aol.com. Email will not be answered immediately and is NOT to be used for emergency medical contact. If you are having a medical emergency you MUST either call 911 or go immediately to the NEAREST emergency room for evaluation and treatment.
A physician is always on call for our practice. At times, either the Emergency Department staff at St. Lukes Regional Medical Center or the St. Lukes Meridian Medical Center supports call. Minor after hours problems can also be treated between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. daily at the McMillan Urgent Care Center located at 4750 N. Five Mile Road, Boise, 83713, telephone (208)-375-0500.
Our after hours contact number is 208-860-6382. We will not answer routine questions or authorize routine prescription renewals after hours. If your problem can be handled by the telephone there may be a charge for treatment initiated by telephone that probably will not be covered by your health insurance company.
